Arsenal have a ton of business to get done this summer, so at least it’s good to see that the transfer bidding has already begun.

With such a long summer ahead of us, and so many fans already complaining about anything they possibly can, I’m happy to see that the news waves are swarmed with reports of Arsenal submitting bids and, naturally, after being initially rebuffed, upping their bids.

I’m actually not being facetious at all. Under Arsene Wenger, it really was a rare day when he would improve a bid for anyone. I think Krystian Bielik was the first time I really recalled Wenger upping his bid, and this was single-digit increases.

But if you look at the news today, you will see nothing but increased bids and rumors of increased bids. You will see club statements, player statements, and actual things. Not ridiculous links to Karim Benzema.

For instance, with William Saliba, the Gunners supposedly submitted a £25m bid, only to have it requested that they immediately loan Saliba back. The Gunners rejected this offer, and the negotiations rage on.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

There have been murmurs of double dipping at Lorient and bringing in Alex Claude-Maurice just a year after the tremendous successes of his former teammates Matteo Guendouzi. The original offer of around £5m was rebuffed, but a follow-up of around £10m is on the way.

And for those of you that aren’t all that excited about teenagers, the Sampdoria duo of Dennis Praet and Joachim Anderson still looks ripe for the picking after a £37m bid was rebuffed, with the Gunners swooping in and offering £44m. According to the same new site that broke the Torreira news, Sampdoria are willing to accept this offer.

Whether any of these get accepted or not, the important thing is that all this stuff is happening. Actual stuff. Unai Emery isn’t reffing some retirement game in Italy and saving all the business for August. He isn’t deadset on one guy and one price, with zero leeway. The transfer braintrust here at at Arsenal is actually sending bids places and participating in the transfer window like actual teams do.

And I don’t know about you, but it’s damn exciting! Things are actually moving and shaking in a way that I don’t think we’ve seen before, at least certainly not lately.

Now all we need is for some of these deals to start getting completed and let’s throw in some deals going the other way too.
