Arsenal transfer rumors are going a bit haywire now, with Lucas Torreira tied to an exit. We’re all dumber now for having talked about it.

Last summer, Unai Emery’s first in charge, the transfer business was done particularly well. Arsenal gained so many great players in the exact positions they needed most. And while Bernd Leno grew into the stand-out performer of the batch, the new additions to the midfield were not far behind.

Both Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi are young, incredibly talented, and have a world of potential to utilize growing up at this club. They filled the decade-long gap in this midfield with ease, providing the energy, defensive work, and determination that we’ve been so lacking.

I was mad enough when Guendouzi was linked with a £60m to PSG. Right now, Guendouzi’s value can’t be measured.

But the same can be said of Lucas Torreira, who is suddenly being linked to a ridiculous exit from the Emirates just one season after his arrival.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

I may get heated when we talk about selling Granit Xhaka, but I see the logic in it, even if I don’t support it. The same goes with selling either Alexandre Lacazette or Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. I don’t like it, maybe I even hate it, but I understand it.

There is nothing to understand about selling Lucas Torreira. Anyone that thinks he should be sold should be institutionalized and anyone who was involved in selling him should be fired on the spot for making the most idiotic decision of their life.

Torreira is exactly what we needed. he proved that in one year. He’s the N’Golo Kante that we missed out on, the wrecker who can dominate the midfield. But what makes him even better is the fact that we haven’t even seen the best of him.

With how young Torreira is, there is so much upward mobility for him to become a truly all-purpose midfielder who does every bit of the game and does it well. The fact that he started with defensive help and has the potential to get into attacking mode as well is just another testament to his value.

Selling Lucas Torreira would be worse than losing 4-1 to Chelsea in the Europa League final. It would be the worst idea that has ever came across this club, and I was here when they signed Kim Kallstrom. And Yaya Sanogo. Even talking about it makes me feel dumb.
