Arsenal: Krystian Bielik no different than Guendouzi, Claude-Maurice
By Josh Sippie
Arsenal are going for numerous young and potentially underwhelming signings this summer, so why not count Krystian Bielik among the mix?
Arsenal are already showing a high degree of selectiveness as they peruse their transfer options this summer. Just recently, Yannick Carrasco has been ruled off because he is going to cost £30m instead of the £25m that the Gunners were hoping to get away with.
Elsewhere, Alexis Claude-Maurice continues to received increased bids, as an £18m bid may be the one that clinches the 21-year-old’s services.
He would be coming in a year after Matteo Guendouzi made the exact same move, albeit for cheaper, and proved himself to be not just a future superstar, but a relevant presence on the team in the here and now.
Meanwhile, Krystian Bielik is coming off a tremendous season with EFL Championship side Charlton Athletic and, at 21-years-old, has outright said that he will not be returning to the U23 outfit in North London. He must get into the first team or he will seek his fortunes elsewhere.

That makes it easy for the Gunners. They can either sell him or give him the spot. Personally, I’m for the latter, simply because the Polish defender fits into the same company as Guendouzi and Alexis Claude-Maurice.
Both French youngsters suited up for a Ligue 2 side, one tier below what is widely considered the fifth strongest European division of the big five. Yet Guendouzi came over and was immediately successful, despite how underwhelming his pedigree seemed to be, and with how fervently the Gunners are going after Claude-Maurice, it would seem they think he is more of the same.
Krystian Bielik doesn’t carry a sparkling pedigree either, having only spent a year loan at Charlton Athletic, but you can only make then most of what you’re given, and Krystian Bielik absolutely did that. Now, he wants to be included in the first team picture and he absolutely deserves it. With low expectations and a blatant need for players exactly like him, he could prove himself to be just as viable a solution as Guendouzi did and as Claude-Maurice likely will.
It’s that or sell him for what figures to be a fee way under what he should be sold for, only to see him grow up somewhere else in Europe, become a top-tier defender, and leave us shrugging our shoulders because we yet again didn’t get what we should have out of a player.
