Arsenal will be without Hector Bellerin at the start of the season, and unless something changes, they’re going to have a dino pile of dung at the start of the year.

Arsenal suffered numerous problematic injuries this year, from Danny Welbeck and Rob Holding, to perhaps the biggest, Hector Bellerin. The Spaniard struggled with injury before coming back for a match, only to then re-injure himself and be ruled out for the rest of the season.

Now, it’s being reported that the injury that he suffered in January figures to keep him out for the start of next season.

It’s not like this is the end of the world, and as Laurent Koscielny showed us, a serious injury can be overcome mid-season, and Hector Bellerin will just have to do that. But in the meantime, it’s not like the club is in a position to react to this news, and it stands to reason that it will be up to Ainsley Maitland-Niles to man the role until Bellerin comes back.

One year into the Unai Emery reign at Arsenal, and I think we’re all just eager to move on. To get the Emery era started the right way, with the right players, and to shovel everything else onto the dump truck headed out of town.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

It’s a bummer that we won’t have that chance in its entirety at the start of next year. And, depending on how this summer goes, not until next January at the earliest.

Bellerin being unable to feature is just another small heaping of dung to pile on the start of next season, which already bears the risk of being submerged in a Jurassic Park-sized pile of dung if we can’t start shipping out some of these players that desperately need to leave the club and let the Emery era truly get underway.

According to reports, both Mesut Ozil and Shkodran Mustafi are proving tough to sell, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan isn’t making any headway either. Meaning that not only are we risking not having a key player like Bellerin at the start of the year, but we’re also at risk of still having players that really just need to get out of town and let everyone move on with life.

All I want is a fresh start. All the necessary players healthy and active and all the rest shipped away. Is that really so much to ask for?
