1. He’s the kind of player we need

Here we are, at the summation of all the other reasons that we really do need Ivan Perisic, even if you (and you, and you) refuse to admit it. At the end of the day, Perisic has everything we could need in a new signing. He’s got a few good years left in him, just enough time to guide these youngsters. he can move around and not monopolize on position. He’s fills the veteran slot that Ozil and Mkhitaryan will hopefully be vacating soon.

But more than that, he has the mentality that we need. I’ll never forget the way the Croatians played in the 2018 World Cup. They were so mean, and Perisic was right at the heart of it. Which is absolutely perfect. I could not be happier with that.

Last summer, we signed Sokratis, who is mean. Lichsteiner, who is mean. Matteo Guendouzi, who is determined. Lucas Torreira, who I thought was mean, but we’ll have to see how this transfer saga turns out.

Emery is trying to purge the lax nature of the leftover Wenger era, and signing up mean, gritty players is one way to do that. Perisic is a fighter through and through. He’s actually an aerial threat, despite his positioning. You won’t be left wishing he would do more, because that just isn’t in his nature.

That is exactly what we need. Sign him and let the youth movement ensue around him.
