Arsenal have a ton of spirited young players ready to break into the first team, but Xavier Amaechi is not one of them. I hope the damage was done before all this.

As Arsenal arrive in America yet again, they will be without one of their top young talents, Xavier Amaechi. Of course, calling him “their” guy anymore is a bit incorrect, seeing as how he has been trying to get out of the club since he was snubbed from a first team call-up in the Europa League during the season.

This time, Amaechi was not named to the Gunners’ American roster, while plenty of other young names were.

In response, Amaechi has deleted all trace of ever having been at the Emirates from his social media and one can imagine that it’s only a matter of time before he is sold on, hopefully to fare as well as Serge Gnabry and rub our noses in it.

Personally, I hope then damage was already done before this most recent snub. Amaechi is such a talented young man and he plays the position of greatest need at the club—winger.

He fit right in with the Emile Smith Rowe, Reiss Nelson revolution that we all hoped would take Arsenal’s attack to a whole new level, giving Unai Emery the flexibility to employ his preferred formations, the 4-3-3 and the 4-2-3-1.

But Amaechi clearly wants no part in it. Or maybe it’s more accurate to say that Unai Emery wants no part of Amaechi.

My question is, at what point did he no longer want a part in it? If he’d already checked out from his initial snub, then this most recent snub doesn’t bother me as much. Maybe there was no hope in changing his mind, in which case I don’t feel so bad about how this all panned out.

If, however, this recent snub is what pushed him over the line, then I have to scratch my head. Is there something about Amaechi that Emery just doesn’t like? Is he like Joel Campbell was to Arsene Wenger?

I never like seeing a player done wrong by the club (Joel Campbell), especially when they just exude talent. So hopefully that isn’t the case.

And hopefully, since he’s going to be leaving anyway, we can get a decent price for him seeing as how he is a tremendous young talent. Oh, and no, £5m is not a good price.
