Arsenal: There’s one thing going incredibly right this summer
By Josh Sippie
Arsenal’s summer hasn’t really taken off yet, but even still, there is one thing they are doing incredibly well, and don’t you forget it.
Not a lot is happening. Unless you count relatively unknown Brazilian teenagers or youth promotions within the club, Arsenal have done next to nothing this summer. And in terms of sales, which are drastically needed, there has been a bit of idle chatter, but nothing more.
You could be forgiven for thinking that the club aren’t exactly in a rush to fix their mess of problems. But on the other hand, there is one thing that they are doing incredibly well thus far into the summer, and it falls in the category of not making the situation any worse than it already is.
They aren’t selling Granit Xhaka.
You knew this was coming right? I’ve gone about a month without saying anything about Xhaka. I’ve been enjoying the silence. No one is talking about anything regarding him, and that’s usually the best possible situation for the Swiss midfielder.

No matter how much people refuse to admit it, Granit Xhaka makes this club better. We saw it the majority of last year, with how well he anchored the midfield and gave a sense of confidence and control that no one else instilled. And from the looks of it, we are building around that same thing next year as well.
I think that last year made some of the even biggest haters come around about Xhaka, because he gave us so many compare and contrast samples of the club with and without him, and it was more obvious than ever that we are much better off with him in the side.
Many are still clamoring for him to be sold, as he would undoubtedly be one of the biggest cash hauls available, seeing as how everyone who knows anything understands how valuable Xhaka is, but Unai Emery and the brain trust have shown no interest in it.
In a world where not a lot is going right (or going on at all), I am so happy that the club at least has a grasp on what is needed to continue moving forward with progress, and having to complete reinvent the midfield by selling Granit Xhaka would not be a way to do that.
Give me more Xhaka please. Give us more Xhaka. Because I know that even the haters secretly adore him.
