2. Sead Kolasinac

With Nacho Monreal on the brink of being sold to Real Sociedad, Sead Kolasinac has suddenly become far more important. He has yet to start a match because of the unsettling security concerns to start the season, but on his return, he has been greeted with an increase in faith from Unai Emery in the pending dismissal of Monreal.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

Kolasinac at leftback doesn’t inspire many with confidence, but if ever there was a man capable of surprises, it’s this man. Last year, when we needed a chance creator, he stepped up and did the part. He saw a void and he filled it.

By selling Monreal, another void is being forced onto the club, at least until Kieran Tierney gets back, and I wouldn’t bet against a hardcore competitor like Kolasinac stepping in and doing the job that is asked of him. He has the ability, he has the determination; even if he is a little rough around the edges, he can get it done.

Of course, that involves the defensive side of things too, which is always the question with him, especially in a match where we have to protect against the counter. But again, spare me the doubt. Kolasinac has the tools to play the part.

Finally, No. 1.
