Doubt has been cast on Arsenal’s hopes of keeping Dani Ceballos on a permanent deal, but Unai Emery is the man in charge of turning that around.

Leave it to the media to find nuggets of information and turn them into weights designed to bring down Arsenal fans. Dani Ceballos is a blessing to the club, but since they are telling us there is “little hope” of keeping him permanently, the attempt has been made to cast a pall over his presence at the club.

According to those reports, Ceballos strictly told Real Madrid not to sell him and not to include an option to buy in the loan. Which sounds mighty troublesome, especially after seeing his early efforts, but all is not lost.

There have been coinciding reports that he doesn’t see eye-to-eye with Zidane. Of course, he would not be the first to be tied into such reports, and he wouldn’t be the first to continue life perfectly happily at Real Madrid despite the fact, but that’s not the point.

The point is, only one man can work Ceballos into staying, and that man is Unai Emery. Sure, Ceballos can love to play with this elite attacking squad, and he can notch ten to twelve assists and feel really good about himself, but it falls on Emery to utilize the Spaniard the best that he can be utilized.

And, in tandem, make him feel valued, make him feel important, which I’m gathering he doesn’t exactly have yet in Madrid.

As I mentioned in a previous post, taking on a role at a club reinventing itself like Arsenal is has a way of forcing players to sink or swim, and if Ceballos is a swimmer, there’s going to be an attachment that buds during the season between him and this club that he absolutely did not want to be sold to.

There’s a chance that he is already bullheaded enough to not want to stay no matter what, but I highly doubt it. The fact that he was willing to come here at all and work with Emery shows a certain amount of desire, and with the right manager, and the right show of progress, that certain amount can become something more.

It’s all speculation at this point though, seeing as how we’re only four matches into the season. Just know that there is time to change his mind and Emery is the man to do it.
