Arsenal: Bukayo Saka the long overdue therapy for Serge Gnabry
By Josh Sippie
Arsenal have let a lot of player’s slip through their fingers, but Serge Gnabry still stands out as one of the worst. Bukayo Saka can help us forget all about that.
I am still bitter about the way Serge Gnabry’s Arsenal career ended. And I grow more bitter every time I see him rooting for the Gunners on social media. And I still hate Tony Pulis and revel in West Brom’s suckiness. All because of Serge Gnabry, and how he was so unceremoniously dumped to the Bundesliga, where he has now become indispensable at Bayern Munich.
No one has answered for that heinous crime, and no, I’m not being dramatic. Maybe it was Arsene Wenger’s fault. Maybe he teamed up with Tony Pulis. But the fact of the matter is, we had a fantastic teenage sensation come up through the ranks and horrifically mismanaged his career.
It was so bad that, despite remaining a fan of the club, he had to leave. And I don’t blame him. How do you trust a club after all that happened?
No youth player has been like Gnabry. I thought Reiss Nelson could help, but even at his best, he didn’t have that same gusto that Gnabry did. He was more of a finesse player. Not that that’s a bad thing, it just wasn’t the same.

And besides, Nelson’s a bit behind Gnabry, isn’t he?
But Bukayo Saka? Now that’s a Serge Gnabry. He plays with such tenacity and passion that he’s just as likely to lead the team in successful challenges as he is in successful dribbles, as he is in chances created.
He’s got a wicked shot too… just another thing that Gnabry boasted even from a young age.
Saka has the makings of a 15-goal contribution guy. You can see it every time he touches the ball. He’s an instigator, the same way Gnabry was. And being an Arsenal fan with severe psychological damage stemming from being an Arsenal fan, I am always looking for the mending that follows a deep wound. It might be super late into the festering, but Saka can be the salve that soothes the Gnabry burn…. at last. And this time, there’s no mistaking where Saka belongs, and where he belongs is with the first team, in the starting XI.
Now if we can just solve the Aaron Ramsey situation, I may start to look like Frankenstein.
