Arsenal: Well, at least the future is still sparkly clean
By Josh Sippie
Arsenal’s present day situation is… murky as hell. But thankfully, if you turn your attention just a few years down the road, it’s still sparkly clean.
Leave it to a 1-0 loss to Sheffield United to blow the lid of the whole ordeal, but Arsenal are currently in a bit of a fiasco state. It was all bubbling up, but thanks to scraping and clawing results, we were able to turn away and look at the EPL table and pretend like everything was okay.
But now that we are out of the top four and the team looks like a bunch of old ladies with walkers, it’s clear that the present state of the club is not nearly as good as the third place facade hinted at it being.
If you are worried, that’s natural. If you’re frustrated, that is too. But if you want a bit of cheery optimism from Pain in the Arsenal’s cheery in-house optimist, I’ve got just what you need. I want you to turn your attention away from this year and towards two to three years into the future.
What do we see there?

We see Alexandre Lacazette, still leading the line. We see him flanked by Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli, both in the Golden Boy race. We see An actual creative midfielder in between them, because by then Ozil will be gone and Dani Ceballos will have either made the move or been replaced.
Behind them? Matteo Guendouzi, Joe Willock, Lucas Torreira? Pure gold.
And the best part, behind them, we have an unmistakable defense that no longer has aging, past-due veterans trying to hold together a crumbling back line. We have Hector Bellerin, William Saliba, Calum Chambers, Rob Holding and Kieran Tierney, so many talented young players that there isn’t enough room to fit them all.
And in the ranks we have Reiss Nelson, Emile Smith Rowe. These guys that are on the cusp of the first team. And I mean actually on the cusp. Not like Chuba Akpom, Jeff Reine-Adelaide on the cusp. These are guys that will make it, either here or somewhere else.
That is what we have to look forward too, Gooners.
As far as who the manager will be then, well… that’s something we can’t predict. Unai Emery is just as inconsistent as the team he manages, so it’s hard to figure out where this is all headed but know that the talent is here to build a seriously exciting team in the future.
