It took one whole match of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang being ineffective for fans to turn on him. Last year, he had a couple matches where he ghosted and was almost entirely irrelevant. That happens with strikers who require consistent service, and that service is not provided. Which is hasn’t been,

That said, Aubameyang can bag a brace with ease. A couple good passes and we’ve got a two goal lead that we can then squander into a 2-2 draw. But it all ends with Aubameyang. I don’t care where it starts, and that’s usually the problem, that it just doesn’t start, but it ends with Aubameyang. And as long as that is the case, he will continue to serve a key role on this struggling team going forward.

I honestly do find it kind of amazing that even in the midst of this team collapsing, Aubameyang is still in the Golden Boot race. Just goes to show that even in the desert, Aubameyang can be an oasis. And yes, I am proud of that metaphor.

Of course, if ever there was a time that we needed one of those “easy does it” braces from Aubameyang, this would be it. Anything to help us get past this match with as little pain as possible.
