4. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Whisper it quietly, but Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has scored only once since the start of October. That came in the 1-1 draw with Wolves. After scoring eight goals in his first eight games of the season, he now has just one in his last six.

Now, Aubameyang is far from the first person to blame for this recent scoring drought. In those six games, he has had just 13 shots. For a player who should be Arsenal’s leading scorer, their primary source of goals, creating only 13 shooting opportunities over a six-game period is simply not good enough. Aubameyang averages north of 2.5 shots per game throughout his time in north London. For Borussia Dortmund, he was above 3.5 shots per game.

Top goalscorers rely on volume. While their conversation rates also tend to be higher, those that score the most are often the ones taking the most shots, primarily because they are able to get in the right positions to convert chances. At present, Aubameyang is not receiving the volume he requires, and that is a problem.
