Central Midfield

6.5. Interesting to see him play in central midfield. Started really strongly before suffering a chest issue. Withdrawn after half an hour following some dodgy moments. Still, the experiment was interesting and I would like to see it repeated.. CM. Arsenal. DAVID LUIZ

CM. Arsenal. GRANIT XHAKA. 6.5. Upon his long-awaited return to the team, Xhaka did what Xhaka does: he passed the ball nicely, he slowed down play too much, he did not protect the back four, he provided some stability in possession. It was the good and bad of the old Xhaka. He was fine, and is far from the problem at the club, but he is also not the solution.

7.5. MAN OF THE MATCH: Provided some energy and impetus when driving forwards, on and off the ball. His runs in behind the Frankfurt midfield caused major issues, especially in the first half, and he adds athleticism to an otherwise somewhat ponderous team. His influence waned as he tired in the second half, but he adds a different dimension that should not be overlooked.. CM. Arsenal. JOE WILLOCK
