Arsenal: At least we still have something to look forward to
By Josh Sippie
Arsenal fans are an angry bunch after a seventh straight match without a win, but hey, at least we still have a lot to look forward to in the long run.
Arsenal‘s loss to Eintracht Frankfurt was frustrating for one big reason—it was in the Europa League. A competition that wasn’t supposed to be affected by the epidemic spreading through the club. But that doesn’t mean that there is nothing to look forward too, and believe it or not, we saw more of that against Eintracht Frankfurt. More to look forward to.
No, I’m not referring to Unai Emery getting fired. Although if you want to be excited about that, I won’t stop you. Also, by time this article goes live, he may have already been fired. We’ll just have to wait and see.
I’m referring to the dynamic trio—Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Joe Willock. Frankly, all three had decent enough games, despite the lackluster overall performance. Although it might not be any surprise that Martinelli didn’t score (again) in his first match not starting up front.
They were three of our best performers throughout. Willock was tremendous in his influence throughout the pitch. He was a maestro with the ball, he completed five dribbles on his own.

He was tireless. He played the game with so much energy throughout, despite the waning interest showed by so many of his teammates.
The same goes with Bukayo Saka. So many ideas. So much drive. He got the assist on the one goal, almost nabbed another highly influential play when he was denied a penalty. This was the reminder that we probably shouldn’t have needed that this young man is so incredibly talented.
And Gabriel Martinelli? Even without scoring, which was a bummer, he was highly influential with his attacking play and, like Saka, always had fresh ideas. He was the man that provided that late assist against Southampton too, if you needed a reminder.
These are three guys that give us so much to look forward to. They are here, they are now, they are highly influential whenever they take the pitch and the best part is, they don’t quit. They don’t stop playing just because they don’t like Unai Emery anymore.
So yeah, we still have plenty to look forward to. Plenty. And as long as that is the case, my optimism will burn on like the dumpster fire the club currently is.
