1. Calum Chambers

All of a sudden, this defense has taken on a whole new ugliness. Hector Bellerin, David Luiz and Rob Holding are all injured and a question mark for this one, and I have to believe that the last thing Ljungberg wants to do is exacerbate any injuries to players he may need going forward.

The only three centerbacks to come through unscathed are Calum Chambers, Konstantinos Mavropanos and… Sokratis.

That limits the opportunity for exploration pretty effectively. And it means that, unless Ljungberg wants to be the coolest new manager ever and sit Sokratis for Mavropanos, we are going to have to count on Calum Chambers and Sokratis to hold down the fort and maybe, just maybe, put in a strong defensive showing.

Needless to say, it’s Chambers who I have more faith in there.

That said, assuming this is the choice for defense, it is the same one responsible for our last away clean sheet on opening day against Newcastle. So that’s something. Also, why wouldn’t Chambers do a fantastic job? He’s done it all year, hasn’t he?

What’s one more solid performance under his belt? Especially knowing that he has another chance to stamp himself at centerback, which is what he’s always wanted. Maybe Ljungberg will actually pay attention to that.
