Arsenal: The man who should replace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
By Josh Sippie
Arsenal and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have become something of a tumultuous couple, but it’s clear who should replace Aubameyang, isn’t it?
There’s an epidemic at Arsenal, and it’s an epidemic of not caring. It’s shocking, and it’s a major problem. The biggest problem, in fact. When managers are dropping like flies and players can’t be bothered to stand up and do their part, you need to start clearing house.
Unfortunately, that starts with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. For as many uses as he has, he’s become something of a drain on morale, since he can’t figure out how to stay motivated. But beyond that, it’s a matter of getting a nice chunk of change to reinvest in the squad.
Aubameyang can still provide that. But in the meantime, we can’t pretend like losing him won’t require some kind of answer in the opposite direction. A replacement. Someone who can pick up where he left off.
Perhaps bring a little bit more fight and a little bit more effort, but hey, I’m getting ahead of myself.

So who replaces him? That’s why you clicked on the link right? Well, maybe you’re about to be annoyed with me, but it’s the truth: It really doesn’t matter who replaces him. Aubameyang does one thing. He scores goals. But he doesn’t produce much outside of that.
Which answers the question of who we want to replace him—someone who can still score goals but provide a bit more besides that. Right? That covers nearly every striker in the world. Every realistic striker, anyway. And The Gunners are already showing links to Moussa Dembélé, Kevin Volland and Dries Mertens.
While I’m not thrilled about the lattermost, he at least provides more effort than Aubameyang and he doesn’t want for goals. The other two are a bit more under the radar, but clever nonetheless. They’re the kinds of guys that will give 120%, without question.
No matter what, we need someone who is effort driven. Which, again, covers so many strikers that it’s hard to pinpoint one. The point is, we just need someone who can realistically carry the torch and not provide a massive drop off in finishing quality.
Again, that points to any number of capable strikers. There isn’t a “one man” that should replace Aubameyang. That one man is just a blueprint that can be fulfilled by so many people. I think we will be surprised how easy it is to replace him. Golden Boot and all.
