On Sunday afternoon, Arsenal hosted Chelsea in Mikel Arteta’s return to the Emirates. Here are the player ratings from the 2-1 defeat.

Oh dear Arsenal. After putting in their best first-half performance of the season, — and one of their best first-half showings of the last two years — the Gunners faltered after the break, allowing Chelsea back into the game and eventually to victory. Despite Bernd Leno’s critical error and Tammy Abraham’s late winner, Mikel Arteta’s team showed terrific progress, so much so that they should remain defiant in defeat.

Goalkeeper

3.0. Oh Bernd. Arsenal’s player of the season up until this point. It was a howler, coming to punch an easy freekick and completely missing the ball, allowing Jorginho to tap in at the far post. This was a terrible error, yes, but Leno is still an excellent goalkeeper.. GK. Arsenal. BERND LENO
