Front Three

6.5. Arsenal’s best player in the opening 30 minutes, beating Emerson on several occasions, including drawing a booking after he wriggled away from the Chelsea left-back. Struggled to get in the game in the second half as the team dropped deeper and deeper, defending with the numbers disadvantage. Still would like to see him play at a higher tempo instead of always slowing down the attacking play, but there is so much potential.. RW. Arsenal. NICOLAS PEPE

8.0. MAN OF THE MATCH: Wow!! Yes, N’Golo Kante slipped, largely because Gabriel Martinelli had a poor touch when bursting forward, but he showed terrific pace, dribbling ability, control, skill, and, crucially, composure to take that extra second, slow down, and simply roll the ball into the back of the net when through on goal. After he carried the ball 67 yards, it was quite the finish. Overall, he worked tirelessly, dribbled directly when given the opportunity to do so, and was often the Gunners’ primary outlet. And all at 18.. LW. Arsenal. GABRIEL MARTINELLI

Not really sure what he was doing for Cesar Azpilicueta’s goal, seemingly ducking out of the way of the ball at the near post, but his overall work was solid. Held up the ball well, worked really hard, nipped into midfield to win back possession on several occasions. Also scored a lovely goal with a clinical finish, only to be flagged offside. Not at his best yet, but working hard.. ST. Arsenal. ALEXANDRE LACAZETTE. 6.5
