Arsenal: Attention is everything for Konstantinos Mavropanos
By Josh Sippie
Konstantinos Mavropanos used to be everything, but he’s fallen on hard times. But the Arsenal man is getting attention and that’s never a bad thing.
Arsenal‘s defense looked to be resting pretty securely on the shoulders of Calum Chambers, Rob Holding and Konstantinos Mavropanos. Since then, Holding has fallen short and been an injured mess, Calum Chambers is the most promising but he’s hurt now too.
And Dinos, well, he fell the furthest from everything. He’s been loaned out to Bundesliga 2, and I considered that it. the Dinos movement was over before it could even get started.
Yet out of nowhere, Dinos is making headlines again for his tremendous performances over in Germany. The Greek defender has played three matches and taken home two man of the match awards. That’s pretty damn efficient.
I know that you could skirt by saying that it’s “only Bundesliga 2”, but to that I’ll just say that you can only make the most of what’s in front of you, and Dinos is doing exactly that.

Besides, when was he even given a chance at Arsenal recently? He’s been missing in action, hurt or with the U23s and never able to suit up with the first team. Yet I still harbored some fond memories of him being a reliable Premier League defender. Showing up Manchester United. Picking fights like Sokratis.
Speaking of Sokratis, it was Sokratis who said that Dinos was the better defender of the two. Just some casual chit-chat? That’s fine.
We’ve seen it though. We’ve seen what he’s capable of. The fact that he disappeared at the Emirates is still something I can’t properly explain, but what he needed most was attention. Just some attention. Get out there on the pitch and remind everyone what you can do.
Guess what? That’s what he’s doing now. He’s getting attention, he’s making waves. And I don’t know about you, but it’s making me excited about him all over again. That’s what he needed to do, plain and simple. That’s all he needed to do.
Now he’s got until the end of the season to keep up exactly what he’s doing now and he can rise back up to the spectrum and assert himself as legitimate option to build into the future of this defense.
Again.
All it takes is a little attention. Just a little reminder of everything. Keep doing that and his career will right itself all over.
