For a couple years now, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette were the bromance at Arsenal, but there’s a new on developing now.

No matter what was plaguing Arsenal over the past two years, through Unai Emery’s era, there was always one thing that united Gooners in universal smiles, and that was the bromance of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.

These two were everything to this attack, they got on so well on and off the pitch and you could always count on them doing something special based entirely on their confidence as a pairing.

Lacazette has not upheld his end of the bromance this year, but Aubameyang is not struggling because of it anymore. Because nowadays, he has a new bromance brewing, and one that may be even better than what he had with Lacazette.

Two matches in a row, we saw Aubameyang score nearly identical goals. He found space in the box to be by himself and Nicolas Pepe spotted him, picked him out, and Aubameyang headed home.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

They made it look so easy, but it was anything but. Pepe is utilizing his width, and Aubameyang took advantage of the attention being pulled so far askew to get into position for a free header.

That makes it now three assists on the year where Pepe has been able to find Aubameyang for the finish. For a team that has only recently figured out how to start Pepe, and who has only recently started to figure out how to score goals with any regularity, that’s pretty damn good. It’s tied for fourth in the Premier League, in fact.

What makes this pairing so unique is that they operate on opposites sides of the pitch, but as both have a knack for cutting in, they often interchange more than a winger and a striker even would, since there’s more fluidity and movement.

But mostly, it’s sprung from Pepe’s ability to pick out Aubameyang where others haven’t been able to. Perhaps that’s because he’s a true winger, but it’s helped on by a tremendous delivery that we see framed and sparkling on set pieces.

I don’t care where the goals get made, as long as it produces a steady flow, and Pepe is finding exactly that opposite Aubameyang. If these two aren’t careful, they’re going to convince me that we shouldn’t cash in on Aubameyang this summer. Gotta keep the bromance alive!
