Arsenal‘s future is largely going to be determined by this summer, and the approach that Mikel Arteta takes towards buying and selling. Particularly with guys like Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, perhaps the most valuable commodities on the club.

By that standard, it will also largely come down to the club’s ability to get into the Champions League or, at the very least, back into the Europa League. The Champions League would see the need for guys like Aubameyang, anything less would make them expendable.

That said, the decision isn’t going to be an easy one to make. After all, he’s the defending Golden Boot winner and is now tied for the same award this year. So on the surface, selling him would seem asinine, but there are so many factors in play here that nothing should be ruled out.

Plus, the guy loves the club. Always hard to part with that. Unless he wants to leave because we don’t make it into the Champions League. But I digress. Let’s get into the three reasons we should sell him. Starting with No. 3.

3. He’s not even playing as a striker

This continues to be a topic of discussion around the Arsenal sphere. You’ve got arguably the best striker in the known world and you’re not even playing him at striker. And by the looks of it, Mikel Arteta has no intention of it either. He has yet to even put him there as part of any adjustments or substitutes mid-match.

We have wingers. Lots of them. So Aubameyang starting on the wing blocks guys like Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli from also starting on that wing, and as we’ve seen, they can do the job incredibly well. From a delivery and creation standpoint, even better. But because of Aubameyang’s presence, we wouldn’t exactly know if they’re ready to take over the job yet, though every time they get the chance, they prove that they are.

Moving on, let’s talk about No. 2.
