Centre-Backs

CB. Arsenal. PABLO MARI. 4.5. His left foot is lovely. Played several beautiful, raking passes across the pitch to find teammates in advanced positions. But defensively, he came up against the pace and power of the Premier League and did not handle it well. Michail Antonio gave Mari fits throughout. When then Spaniard did not press, he turned and drove at — and often by — him; when the Spaniard got tight, Antonio used his body to roll past him. It was a lesson in Premier League defending for Mari.

Arsenal. DAVID LUIZ. 6.0. While the remainder of the defence was panicking around him, David Luiz was doing his best to hold it together. Was not at his audacious best and had a couple of nervy moments, but also made an inordinate number of clearances, especially with his head at the near post. Positioning was very good throughout and passing was quintessentially excellent. Just needs to limit the ‘David Luiz’ moments.. CB
