1. Harder to beat

The greatest gift that this Mikel Arteta has given the club, thanks in part to that stellar defense, is that he has made Arsenal a harder football club to beat. In fact, since he has taken over, the Gunners have lost just one Premier League fixture. That is tied for tops in the league with Liverpool.

Every other team in the league has at least three losses in that time frame, save Arteta’s Arsenal and Liverpool.

This is because losses are becoming draws. Aside from being tied for the top in losses, the Gunners are second from the top in draws. We have drawn five times in Arteta’s ten matches. Only Brighton has more with six.

Draws aren’t that exciting, but when it’s between a draw and a loss, it’s an obvious choice what we’d rather have. And if Arteta took those losses and made them draws, then the next logical progression is to take those draws and turn them into wins.
