Arsenal: 3 reasons why Diogo Jota is perfect
Arsenal are being linked with a summer move for Wolves attacker Diogo Jota. Here are three reasons why the 23-year-old would be the perfect acquisition.
As the summer transfer window theoretically looms and Arsenal make plans for their upcoming transfer business and the Mikel Arteta rebuild, one name has surfaced as a potential target: Wolves’ attacker, Diogo Jota. Per the Daily Mail, Jota is viewed as a potential solution to the wide attacking problems currently present in the squad. And while there would likely be some tough convincing to do, especially if the Gunners do not qualify for the Champions League, it is a transfer that makes a whole lot of sense.

In fact, you might call it perfect. Here are three reasons why.
3. He is actually a winger
When Arsenal signed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang a little over two years ago, they signed one of the best goalscorers in world football. But six months prior, they had already broken their club transfer record to acquire another elite goalscorer centre-forward Alexandre Lacazette. And while the pair have been Arsenal’s best players since that time, they are both strikers, and that has presented a problem.
This season, Aubameyang has predominantly played on the flank, which he did in his younger years. He has been prolific in that position, which is a testament to his goalscoring prowess, but it does unbalance the overall attacking set-up of the team. The slanted manner of the front three has been problematic throughout their times at the club. To balance that out would be revolutionary.
And that is where Diogo Jota enters the equation. While he has experience playing through middle and has floated into other attacking positions, he is a much more natural winger with electric pace, exhilirating dribbling skills, and a natural positional sense that prefers to drift wide and receive the ball in deeper positions. This is what Arsenal have needed ever since Aubameyang and Lacazette arrived. Jota would provide it.
