Arsenal: Top 5 must-sell players this summer
As the Arsenal rebuild continues in the Mikel Arteta, selling the right players for the right price will be crucial. So, here are five players that the club should move on from this summer.
While rebuilding a squad is often about the players that you bring into the team, it often starts with smart selling that allows significant and intelligent reinvestment. As Liverpool have illustrated in recent years, while their signings have been excellent, it is their sales that have accelerated their improvement. Arsenal are at the beginning of that process, and it all starts with selling the right players for the right price.

With this in mind, here are the top five must-sell players in this summer’s transfer window.
5. Rob Holding/Calum Chambers/Shkodran Mustafi
Oddly for how unconvincing the position has been throughout the season, Arsenal have a surplus of centre-backs. Sadly, they are all underwhelming. But the vast numbers mean that at least one or two must be offloaded this summer — more on this later.
Next season, Arsenal’s primary starters will be William Saliba and a new centre-back who is signed in the summer. David Luiz will then likely return as the third-choice option, while Pablo Mari could also be involved if the club makes his loan move permanent for a very fair £8 million. That is already four central defenders, with Dinos Mavropanos also set to return from his loan deal. Numbers are not a problem.
So, it makes sense to offload two of Rob Holding, Calum Chambers and Shkodran Mustafi. Mustafi is earning £90,000 per week and will have a year left on his contract. Selling for any possible fee seems sensible. Meanwhile, Arsenal can only offer one of Holding and Chambers genuine playing time and development. As they reach their prime years, it is time to sell for a handsome price before it is too late to gain substantial remuneration.
