PIRAEUS, GREECE – FEBRUARY 20: Alexandre Lacazette of Arsenal celebrates with teammates Bukayo Saka, Dani Ceballos and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after scoring his teams first goal during the UEFA Europa League round of 32 first leg match between Olympiacos FC and Arsenal FC at Karaiskakis Stadium on February 20, 2020 in Piraeus, Greece. Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have been Arsenal’s best two players over the past two years. However, while their performances have largely been superb, it is time to move on from one of the pair this summer.

Aubameyang will be 31. He has one year remaining on his contract and will command a wage comparable to Mesut Ozil’s in any sort of new deal. Lacazette, meanwhile, will turn 29 in May, has two years remaining on his contract and could represent a terrific sale candidate to reinvest the price in other positions, especially if Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Martinelli prove their readiness.

Selling both seems a little rash, but if Aubameyang is unwilling to sign a new deal, he must be offloaded for the highest possible price. If Aubameyang will extend his contract, Lacazette’s place in the squad should come under question. Both could command £50 million, and with room for only one centre-forward in Mikel Arteta’s system, that money could sure go a long way in signing a true and proper winger.
