1. Calum Chambers

Every summer, I go through the same concerns with Calum Chambers because it feels like every summer, managers unwisely entertain offers for the Englishman. Last summer, it was reported that Unai Emery was looking for something like £22m for Chambers.

Which is just stupid. It’s a textbook case of a player not having had long enough at center stage and thus being woefully underpriced.

Chambers has impressed every step of the way, across two loans at failing clubs and as the star centerback at the Emirates before getting injured for the year. He’s clearly the kind of guy you can build a defense around and the kind of guy that you patiently wait for to return from injury and reserve a spot for him. That’s what Chambers has earned and deserves, not being sold to a downgraded club where he can prove what he proved at Fulham and Boro—that he’s a class defender simply lacking in opportunity.

Chambers is only 25, he’s got a tremendous future ahead of him, but that can only be carried out if he remains and is given the opportunity he deserves. Thankfully (oddly enough), the fact that he’s injured should prevent any sort of sale. But still, let’s say it together—do not sell.
