2. Price

Sure, having a set price is a good thing. It means we won’t have to negotiate. That we know exactly what we’d have to pay to get the guy. But that price still isn’t cheap. It would make him one of the most expensive signings in Arsenal history, and at a position that, let’s be honest, isn’t a dire need.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

As it stands, with Granit Xhaka, Dani Ceballos (pending), Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi, we have a pretty solid midfield set-up. Having to call on just two of them at a time, we’ve done pretty good. Xhaka and Ceballos have teamed up to exquisite effect and their versatility is killing it out there.

So what do we gain by spending a small fortune on another midfielder when it’s our defense and our attack that is probably going to need more investment. Our defense certainly needs another pricey addition and our attack will probably have to recoup the losses of both Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette. What’s more important to us?

The argument can be made that Partey helps the defense more than another defender does and I am on board with that logic myself. But without a gaping need in the midfield, isn’t it best to let come what may and adjust accordingly?
