Back Three

4.0. Really struggled in the first half. Pushed into a wider centre-back role in the back three, Holding had more space to cover and was exploited as a result. Jamie Vardy caused him serious problems, the rain of Leicester crosses largely came from Holding’s side, while he was caught in possession on several occasions. Rusty.. RCB. Arsenal. ROB HOLDING

Arsenal. NACHO MONREAL. 5.5. Struggled to keep tabs on Jamie Vardy, whose movement was superb. Also lacked the leadership and communication required. Arsenal needed a character to anchor the defence in the absence of key centre-backs. Nacho Monreal was meant to be precisely that. In the end, he cowered in the limelight a little, especially at set-pieces.. CB

Arsenal. SEAD KOLASINAC. 7.0. You cannot ask for much more than that. No one quite knew what type of defender Sead Kolasinac would turn out to be on his debut, but bulldozing, physical, powerful, domineering are all apt descriptions. The Bosnian raced forward dangerously in the first half, then defended stoutly in the second half when shifted into a back four. The Gunners might just have a fan favourite here.. LCB
