Arsenal: 5 reasons Marcel Sabitzer should be top priority
By Josh Sippie
3. Versatility
We are still in the experimental stages, though Mikel Arteta is certainly figuring out how best to arrange everything. But as it stands, it doesn’t make much sense to grab specific players who can only play a singular position. Then you run into a Mesut Ozil situation where you don’t really have anything to do with him other than build a formation that has a No. 10.

If you bring in Marcel Sabitzer, you have a guy that has played across the board. This year alone he has played eight different positions, across central midfield, on either side, defensively, in the attack, as a winger, a wingback, a No. 10. All of it.
Whatever the Gunners might need on any given day, he can fill the role. If we still feel like rolling with a No. 10 who has a better work rate and end product than Ozil, Sabitzer is the guy. If you need a pivot who can drive play from deep and help defend, he’s your guy.
Sabitzer can even deputize at wingback if we lose all our fullbacks to injury yet again. Though let’s hope that never has to happen.
On to No. 2.
