1. Increased video analysis

In the short time that he has been Arsenal head coach, it is quite clear that Mikel Arteta is extremely concerned with the tactics that his team employs. He has high expectations of his players and he has detailed instructions for each given the different roles they play and situations they may find themselves in.

It is difficult to work on this too intensely without being on the training ground. Teaching via communication is rarely as effective as undertaking the processes in person. Learn by doing, not listening. But with the increased availability of video and statistical analysis, Arteta now has the time to delve into the performances of his players and work on specific elements to their game.

Without going too Unai Emery, Arteta can package together video clips explaining what his players should and shouldn’t be doing. He can explain his specific instructions, work on the positional sense of his players, and aid their decision-making.
