1. Signing only Petr Cech

It was the end of the 2015 season. Arsenal had closed the year in superb form. Mesut Ozil was at his best, Alexis Sanchez had settled into the team, Danny Welbeck, Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud provided versatility and goals, while Santi Cazorla, Hector Bellerin, Nacho Monreal and Laurent Koscielny were all the top of their games.

Arsenal were on the verge of challenging for the title. They needed to buy elite players at just two or three key positions: goalkeeper, central midfield and centre-back. They addressed goalkeeper quickly, signing Petr Cech in a smart deal from Chelsea.

For the rest of the window, Arsene Wenger sat on his hands. He did not sign a single outfield player. Leicester City then went on to win the Premier League with 81 points. Arsenal had only six fewer the previous season.
