Arsenal: Best XI of the post-Arsene Wenger era
It has been almost two seasons since Arsene Wenger resigned as Arsenal manager. So, what is the best starting XI that I can comprise from players of that period?
Arsene Wenger announced his resignation as Arsenal head coach a little under two years ago. A lot has happened since then. Three managers, several new signings, a few new superstars to cheer, and a whole of disappointment. To help reflect on the two years since Wenger’s departure, I thought it would be interesting to comprise a starting XI out of the players that have played since. So, here it is.

Before we start, I have only considered the form of players over the past two seasons, even if they played for Arsenal before then. I have also tried to field a compatible team while maintaining a balance between quality performances and consistent output across the two-year period. So, let’s get going.
Goalkeeper
The easiest position to determine. Bernd Leno has been Arsenal’s starting goalkeeper throughout the post-Wenger era bar Petr Cech’s brief stint as the starter upon Leno’s arrival. He has been excellent for large periods and established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League.
