Arsenal will probably need a new striker this summer, so here are three reasons that Luka Jovic should top the list, no matter who he’s replacing.

Arsenal‘s striker situation is one big question mark going into this summer transfer window. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is holding out for wages in the £300,000, as well as Champions League football. Both of which are obtainable, neither of which will be easy.

Alexandre Lacazette, meanwhile, has had one hell of an underwhelming season, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see both sides look for a mutual break-up no matter what the Gunners end up doing with the rest of the season.

Still, there have been very few names talked about as replacement, Odsonne Edouard has emerged as a target recently, but even more recently, Luka Jovic has returned to the conversation. Jovic has spent the year at Real Madrid after making what appears to have been an ill-advised jump from Eintracht Frankfurt, but that doesn’t mean all value is lost.

In fact, here are three reasons why Jovic should top the replacement list rather than Edouard. We start with No. 3.

Growth

When Luka Jovic had his massive breakout year at Eintracht Frankfurt in the 2018/19 season, everyone paid attention. With 17 goals and five assists, he was quickly one of the most sought after names in the world.

But it was only his first full year at any club at the top level of football. Which left him still a bit raw around the edges. That’s rarely a good time to jump to Real Madrid, yet he won’t be the last person to let the allure of the footballing giants pry him away from what’s best.

Now, with very few minutes to speak of in Madrid, Jovic could well be looking to get away and at 22-years-old, he still has plenty of room to grow. Not to mention he will have experienced that maturation process known as a huge let-down and he’ll be hungry to establish himself in a more welcoming environment.

The Gunners will need a new striker to pair with Eddie Nketiah, and Jovic could easily grow into that role.

On to No. 2.
