Paderborn

Paderborn is almost certainly going to be relegated as they sit at the very bottom of the Bundesliga table, ten points from safety. They don’t have a lot going on, but there is one guy on their team who probably deserves better than the second tier, and that man is centerback Sebastian Schonlau.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

Despite taking a battering and losing 17 times, Schonlau had kept his individual head above water, making him one of the only players to do so. He consistently proves himself a quality defender, both in the air and on the ground, he’s composed when called into action (which is an awful lot) and he reminds me of Calum Chambers when Chambers was on loan at Middlesbrough and Fulham, both of whom were soon to be relegated.

On an individual level, Chambers still shone and proved himself a valuable commodity, not unlike what Schonlau is currently doing at Paderborn.

It might not be the most exciting option, but it’s far from the worst option.

Next stop, Schalke.
