FC Schalke

FC Schalke always has such a tremendous stream of young and talented players that it’s hard to pick just one person you’d want to purchase. Arsenal already have two Schalke products on our team now in Sead Kolasinac and Mesut Ozil and we’ve been linked throughout the years to countless others (Leroy Sane, Julian Draxler, Leon Goretzka, etc, etc.).

More from Pain in the Arsenal

This time around, I can’t quite make up my mind between Ozan Kabak and Omar Mascarell. In Kabak, we would be getting one of the best young defensive talents in the league. He plays the game Arteta wants to play and despite being so young, he’d be an immediate fix as well, adding to our young defensive options.

But then you have Mascarell, the Schalke captain, who anchors that midfield like a true champ. He’s a master at sweeping up play and turning it around to push forward. He never tries to do too much and favors finding an outlet, but when the situation necessitates, he can turn play around and push forward on his own.

He won’t give you much goal threat, but it’s not a nonfactor either.

Since Mascarell was only just named the Schalke captain, I can’t imagine him ditching the club that easily to join Arsenal. That said, Kabak only just had his breakout and he’s been gushing about his love for Schalke. So while neither is exactly that realistic, they are both top-quality targets.

Coming up next, Union Berlin.
