Arsenal: 3 better options and 3 worse options than Dani Ceballos
By Josh Sippie
1, Worse: Carlos Soler
The biggest question mark I have about this transfer window is how we could possibly justify spending £36m on Carlos Soler if we aren’t willing to spend £36m on Dani Ceballos. Ceballos has more production than Soler this year and Ceballos has been hurt, acclimating to the English game and is still the same age as well.
Soler’s upside escapes me at that price. Supposedly, Valencia needs to raise some money and Soler is their guy to do that, but that much money for Soler makes zero sense. His production doesn’t justify it, he doesn’t have the presence to justify it, he isn’t a solution.
He’s a project, I’ll give him that. But projects don’t cost that much money. Even at half that price, it would be hard to justify. He’s another Orkun Kokcu but with a much bigger price tag.
Finally, a No. 1 solution that everyone probably saw coming.
