1, Better: Marcel Sabitzer

In case I haven’t said this enough, the only midfielder that can solve all our problems in one fell swoop is Marcel Sabitzer. The goal machine that escorted Tottenham out of the Champions League is one of the hottest names on the midfield market, he’s on the brink of his prime, he’s got the physical presence that we need avoid any lengthy acclimation period and while he doesn’t play defensively as well as Partey, he’s not a slouch either.

Sabitzer does a little bit of everything, but he does a lot of things well. He produces goals incredibly efficiently, both from distance and from just making runs or picking out key passes.

A Xhaka/Sabitzer pivot would be a dream. Now, don’t even get me started on if we can also keep hold of Ceballos, or get Partey in addition to them, but that’s all in an ideal world. In an ideal world, we can grab two midfielders and build out a tremendous trio.

If that ideal world does not come to pass, Sabitzer is the closest we can get to solving all our midfield problems with just one signing. Again, it’s not perfect, but it’s the closest we can get.
