Arsenal: 3 reasons Ryan Fraser still a sensible transfer

Arsenal is yet again tied to Ryan Fraser, this time, however, for a free transfer. While this isn’t a top priority, here are three reasons it’s still sensible.

Arsenal‘s upcoming transfer window is going to be a doozy. It’s pretty much all we have to talk about these days, so we’ve analyzed it down to the list of priorities heading into the window. Some priorities are clear and obvious, like finding a shiny new centerback and a dynamic midfielder.

It’s the depth options that we don’t talk much about and part of the reason for that is just because we don’t need that many depth signings. With Cedric Soares a sensible depth choice at fullback, Matteo Guendouzi floating in midfield, plenty of wingers and a decent crop of centerbacks, we don’t need to do a lot of deep shopping.

Though I’m never opposed to a bargain. Which is where Ryan Fraser enters the picture.

Against all odds, Ryan Fraser stayed at Bournemouth after his big breakout year last year, but now that his contract is coming to an end, the vultures are ready to snap him up. Arsenal are one such vulture even though, as mentioned, we have a ton of winger options. With Nicolas Pepe on the brink of superstardom and Reiss Nelson, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli all clamoring for time, we really don’t need any more help at the position.

So why then is there any sense in going after Ryan Fraser, even on a free? That’s what I’m here to talk about. And it all starts with a No. 3 that I’ve already belabored. So let’s get to it.

3. He’s free

Last year, we were ready to drop a good chunk of change on this guy. Rumors had him around £25m+. That’s a lot of money to be dropping on someone that isn’t as eye-popping as, say, Nicolas Pepe. But when you slash the price down to zero, you take out every kind of risk factor.

It’s a small point, because even free costs money when it comes to wages, but as we move forward on this list, it will become more sensible in tandem with him being free.
