Arsenal: 3 Premier League targets who aren’t mentioned enough
1. Diogo Jota
As it looks increasingly likely that Arsenal will miss out on Champions League football, they will most probably be forced into selling Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang — and maybe even Alexandre Lacazette, too. As a result, they will have to find a goalscoring wide player who can play Aubameyang’s inverted left-wing role. Diogo Jota is someone they should take a long look at.
The 23-year-old has been excellent for Wolves over the past two seasons. Playing both out wide or in a strike tandem, the Portuguese attacker would suit Aubameyang’s half-winger, half-striker role perfectly. This season, Jota has played 12 goals and one assist in 2,102 minutes across the Premier League and Europa League. Last season, Jota scored nine goals with five assists 2,369 Premier League minutes. He also scored three and added five assists in 389 Europa League minutes.
He is a superb dribbler, completing 50% of a massive 5.6 attempts per 90 minutes, is a capable passer and crossed, and boasts a clinical streak in front of goal that could make him prolific. He is an industrious worker, an excellent presser, and will not turn 24 until midway through next season.
Adama Traore and Raul Jimenez may grab the limelight at Wolves, but Jota might just be the ideal Aubameyang replacement.
