While much attention has been paid to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s future, Alexandre Lacazette could also leave Arsenal this summer. In that eventuality, here are three replacements the club should pursue.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang might be set to leave Arsenal this summer. The Gunners might well be forced into selling the ageing striker with a soon-to-expire contract. But he is not the only attacker who is the back-end of his prime years and will require a bumper new deal to stay at the Emirates well into his future. Alexandre Lacazette is in a very similar situation, only two years younger and with one more year on his contract. Arsenal might be best-served to sell him, too.

And so, if they were to offload the Frenchman, here are three replacements they could look to.

3. Myron Boadu

It is always risky buying from the Dutch league, especially when looking at young attacking players who rack up lots of goals and assists. The defending in the Eredivisie is notoriously lapse and many great goalscorers in Dutch football have arrived in more competitive leagues and struggled greatly. Anyone remember Afonso Alves? Nevertheless, Myron Boadu has been one of the best strikers in the Eredivisie this season.

The 19-year-old has played in 2,020 minutes this season. He has 14 goals, none of which are penalties, and six assists. He is a young, bustling centre-forward who leads the line in AZ Alkmaar’s 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 formation. Standing at just over six feet, he is strong, explosive, difficult to contain, and possesses tremendous movement and anticipation. He also four goals and two assists in 626 minutes in the Europa League.

He knows where the goal is, can finish off two feet, and has maintained an 82.7% pass completion rate, while completing 1.1 dribbles per 90 minutes with a 55% completion rate. He is raw. His touch still needs work and he can find himself isolated, but he has all the tools to be an excellent centre-forward. And he might cost less than £20 million.
