Rob Holding – £20 million

The final centre-back to consider is Rob Holding. Signed for only £2 million the year prior to Mustafi’s arrival, the Englishman has continually exceeded expectations. However, after tearing his ACL last season, he has been unable to prove hit fitness this time around and has seemingly slipped right to the bottom of the pecking order.

Holding will turn 25 in September. He has three years remaining on a cheap contract so there is not much prerogative to sell just yet, but as he reaches his prime years, there is a growing need for him to find playing time, somewhere, anywhere. It is unlikely that that will come at Arsenal.

Arteta might want to see one more year from Holding, giving the defender every chance to prove himself. In that instance, maybe a loan to a team where Holding will start every week would best suit. However, as an English centre-half who has displayed his capabilities in the Premier League, Holding could fetch as much as £20 million, despite his lack of playing time this season. And that might just be too much to turn down.
