1. Houssem Aouar

Houssem Aouar is the player that most Arsenal fans crave and it’s easy to see why. He is a budding star in his own right and would be a shining light in the heart of the Gunners’ midfield.

Aouar likes to control the play from midfield. He can bring the ball forward with excellent dribbling ability, is a superb passer and creator, and is equally competent as a number eight or 10. He has a lot of pace and can carry the ball well and his style of play would make Arsenal a serious threat on the counter-attack as his utilisation of space on and off the ball is impressive for someone so young.

All this has not gone unnoticed, however. Aouar is one of the most sought-after youngsters in Europe. The world’s biggest clubs are all aiming to make a move in the summer. Another negative sticking point is the transfer fee. Lyon quote around £50-plus million, which would likely put him out of Arsenal’s range.

Nevertheless, in hoping to find a midfielder who can control play, dribble, create, and also be a nuisance defensively, Auoar is perfect and might just be worth the splashy outlay.
