2. He isn’t what we expected

I think we can all agree that we like Lucas Torreira. We knew we would the moment we signed him. The moment we saw him laying people out in the World Cup. We wanted that for Arsenal and for the most part, we got it.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

But it’s been two years now and I’m not any more confident in him than I was when he first arrived. He hasn’t improved at all, he’s still not a set starter, he isn’t the defensive midfielder that we needed and at this point, coupled with the fact that he just doesn’t want to be here, I don’t see why we need to try this out any longer.

More than likely, part of the reason why it hasn’t been what we expected is that he hasn’t settled, but whatever the case, he hasn’t been good enough to keep a starting role and he hasn’t been healthy enough either.

At this point, he could still fetch a good sum of money in return, so we might as well cash in while we can, before he loses too much value from not being used, and try to move things in a different direction.

Speaking of which…
