Ranking in as the stupidest transfer rumor of the season—and perhaps ever—Jesse Lingard has absolutely no reason to even be on this list. The only reason I included him is because, despite what I’ve previously said, I actually do enjoy slating the guy. Like, a lot.

Lingard is now 27-years-old, he plays like a midtable substitute but acts like a world-class superstar. He is everything that Arsenal do not want. The only remotely intriguing thing about him is that he plays a creative midfield role. But he doesn’t create well enough to even claim that. He doesn’t produce goals, he doesn’t really do much of anything.

Mikel Arteta and the transfer chiefs here at the Emirates aren’t going to be interested in Lingard. He’s not the answer in any way. And that should be the end of the discussion. His name popped up briefly and I have to assume that was merely a curiosity. Could they get Lingard for a low sum and use him as a supplement. Who knows. Maybe not even that.

Just know that this is a pointless rumor with absolutely nothing to say for the positive.
