2, Against: Cash in while you can

It may not be easy to sell him, but there are a lot of factors that make this the most opportune time to sell him. In fact, he will likely never have a higher value than what he has this summer. Actually, that’s not true, his highest value would probably have been last summer, but you’d have to be nuts to have advocated selling him back then.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

Here’s the thing—he’s only got two years left on his contract. When you get into the final year without having made a decision, you run into trouble. Value drops off and clubs begin wondering if they can just wait for him to walk for free.

He’s 28 years old. At the end of this contract, he will be 30. If he is only managing the production that we’ve seen from him lately by time he’s 30, his value will have plummeted ridiculously.

Speaking of production, as a striker who is not producing, his value is already plummeting. According to Transfermarkt, his value has dropped something like £18m this year alone. Rumors would say he’s even less valuable, arguing that he may have to be sold for as little as £30m. We can realistically expect more than that. That said, it’s probably time to consider if cashing in would make more sense rather than letting him run his value into the ground.

On to the No. 1 reason for keeping him.
