4. He’s embedded at the club

A similar argument I used for Alexandre Lacazette. When you have a guy at the club for a certain amount of time, you start to get attached to him and you get a good sense of what he’s capable of. It’s the same with Bellerin. We’ve grown attached to him as fans, even though there will always be idiots who treat him poorly, as they do with any player. Selling someone that’s been here nearly a decade is no easy feat.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

Not just that, but to the other point, we know what he can do. We know that he is a top-quality rightback who can play the position the way we need it trade. That is not up for debate. But what is up for debate is if Hakimi or Kenny or whoever else we might bring in can do the job as well as Bellerin, how long it will take them to acclimate, if they’ll even like it in London, and all manner of variables.

It can go wrong really quickly. Why even give it the option to go wrong when we can trust in what we know? Especially when what we know is bordering on elite. Give him time to get healthy and fit and he will be one of the best in the world again.
