Hellas Verona

Hellas Verona is quietly hanging out in the peripherals of European qualification, and while you won’t find the guy I’m targeting on any statistical leaderboards, he’s been of interest for quite some time and that doesn’t change here.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

Sofyan Amrabat has been around the block in the Eredivisie and that’s where he primarily thrived. Since moving to Hellas Verona, a lot of his important characteristics have carried on. He hasn’t brought his creativity yet, but he’s always had that, so it’s just slow in development.

But what Amrabat does so well is driving play from deep. He is solid on the ball and he’s a tremendous ball carrier. Those have translated no matter where he plies his trade, and for that, there’s plenty of reason to believe that the same will hold true if he makes the move to somewhere like England. Even if the creativity is still lost in transit, we don’t have players like him that can carry the ball as well as he does.

Ideally, Matteo Guendouzi can develop into that midfielder, but if he doesn’t Amrabat is a happy solution.
