1. He is a man-manager

It has been widely reported that Arteta has individually spoken to several of the Arsenal players who are more uncertain about the wage cuts, while also ensuring that all of his players are feeling okay during these strange times, particularly those who are living on their own or without their families.

Granit Xhaka already chose to stay with the team in January because of Arteta’s management, while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is also said to be much happier under Arteta than he was during the tense final months of Unai Emery’s tenure.

As a recent former player and captain, Arteta is able to lean on his experiences in the dressing room to navigate his way through management. He has a unique insight into the lives of the players he manages, and he is subsequently able to act in a much more empathetic and encouraging manner.
